Setting up MFA for Quicktext Dashboard access
To ensure the security of your account and sensitive data, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is required to access the Quicktest dashboard. MFA adds an extra layer of protection by requiring a unique code from an authenticator app in addition to your password.
Prerequisites
-
A smartphone with an authenticator app (e.g., Microsoft Authenticator, Google Authenticator, or Duo Mobile).
-
Your Quicktest dashboard login credentials.
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Initial Login
Navigate to your Quicktest dashboard login page. Enter your email address and password. If MFA hasn't been configured yet, you will be automatically prompted to begin the setup.
2. Connect your Authenticator App
Once the MFA setup screen appears, you will see a QR Code.
-
Open your authenticator app on your mobile device.
-
Select Add an Account (usually a "+" icon).
-
Choose Scan QR Code and point your phone’s camera at the code on your computer screen.
3. Save your Backup Codes (CRITICAL)
Before finalizing the setup, the dashboard will provide you with a set of MFA Backup Codes (sometimes called Recovery Codes).
☝️[!IMPORTANT] You must save these codes immediately. These are your "digital spare keys." If you lose your phone, delete the app, or the device breaks, these codes are the only way to regain access to your account without a manual administrator reset.
How to store them safely:
-
Download: Save the text file to a secure, encrypted drive.
-
Print: Keep a physical copy in a locked file or safe.
-
Password Manager: Store them as a "Secure Note" in a manager like Bitwarden, LastPass, or 1Password.
-
Do not store them in plain text on your desktop or in your email.
4. Verify the Connection
-
Enter the 6-digit code currently showing in your authenticator app into the dashboard verification field.
-
Click Save or Verify.
